OLSON OPENS JHR FALL 2002
RACE SERIES WITH POLE AND 1ST, 2ND, 4TH TO
LEAD POINT STANDINGS

Hollywood, CA – Two days ago, racecar driver Pete Olson was at wide-open throttle doing 120 mph on the straight at Laguna Seca, making his professional debut behind the wheel of a Formula Dodge racecar.
But as we witnessed yesterday, Olson certainly hasn’t forgotten his roots behind the wheel of a Yamaha KT100 racing kart.
Once again, Olson took the coveted pole position at the opening day of the Jim Hall Racing Fall 2002 Championship. And once again, Olson had a day of victory and pain.
Olson started the first of three races of the day on pole and led the entire race to finish first. In the second, inverted race, Olson almost managed to pass the entire field to move up to 2nd for the checkered flag. As the result of having the best combined finishes of both heat races, Olson started on pole for the final, “main” race.
Little did Olson know he would finish the race with arms and ribs blackened from a high-speed accident.
While in the lead going into fast Turn Three during only the first lap of the final race, Olson was knocked off the track by the driver immediately following. Olson careened off the track at over 70mph to come to a halt in an enormous cloud of dust and smoke.
On the restart, a furious Olson got back into his kart and managed to move up to finish 4th with only a few laps remaining.
Despite the results of the final race, Olson leads the Championship in the point standings.
“Two years ago, this was just a dream for me. And I still have only a single goal, and that is to win whatever the cost.” said Olson from his home in Hollywood.
